Memorial Day at the World War II Museum

We spent Memorial Day at the World War II Museum - my Father and my Uncle served in that war and I have always marveled at how they had calmly put a difficult job behind them.

It was a day of saying thank you to those who kept us safe and to those who continue to keep us safe.

My particular thanks go to a family member, Capt. Andrew Tacquard USMC.

the day started in the main hall with a commemoration ceremony..

and of course that meant a band - from the Marines, of course............

they played New Orleans Dixieland and the anthems for the Navy, Army, Air Force and finished with the Marines..

and then it was the exhibits that included a ride on a submarine and a four dimensional re-telling of the D-Day landings

If you live in New Orleans you should visit often - there is no better day than Memorial Day or July 4th to do that..
and if you are a visitor it should be on your must see list...

Under construction - the building that will house the Campaigns of Courage exhibits..
